Used AI to make that product photo? Say so, right on the page.
A lot of stores do it now — a product image touched up or generated with AI, a description drafted by a chatbot. Shoppers can’t always tell, and more of them are starting to ask. RuleRadar AI Labels is a Shopify app that puts a small, clear disclosure label on the AI-made content in your store, so you don’t have to hand-edit every product page to be upfront about it.
Why stores are asking for this now
Shopify’s own community forum has merchants asking for a built-in AI-content badge — in plain words, urgently, and especially from stores selling into Europe. Europe’s AI Act has a transparency milestone on Dec 2, 2026: the grace period for marking AI-generated output from systems already on the market runs out, and machine-readable marking becomes enforceable. The legal duties in that law mostly sit with the companies that build AI tools, not with individual shops — but stores still want a tidy, consistent way to show customers which content was AI-made, and right now Shopify doesn’t give them one.
So we’re building it as an app.
What the app will do
- Label AI-made product images and content. Mark a product image, photo set, or description as AI-generated or AI-assisted, and a clear disclosure label shows on the product page.
- Keep a simple record. See, in one place, which items in your store carry a label — useful when a customer, a marketplace, or a business partner asks how you handle AI content.
- Stay consistent. Same wording, same placement, across the whole store, instead of whatever each product page ended up with on the day it was written.
One honest caveat, because it matters: this app helps you disclose. It isn’t legal advice, and it can’t promise that any store is compliant with any particular law — only a lawyer who knows your situation can do that. What it does is make the labelling itself painless, ahead of the Dec 2 deadline rather than in a scramble after it.
Request early access
The app is being built now, and early-access stores will help shape the details — where labels sit, how the wording reads, what gets marked. Leave your email and, if you like, your store address, and we’ll invite stores in small batches as it’s ready.
We’ll email you when your early-access spot is ready.
